The McDan Tour
We went to see Steely Dan and Michael McDonald.
...the bikes
...the stage
... the vids
Mike McDonald opened up for Steely. He is so magically smooth.
And Steely rocked the house. As you can see, Mike played with Steely, just like the old days.

Oh you guys I am so friggin jealous. The Dan and Michael are two of my all time hero's. Just what is it like to live on the "Right Coast" and get to do these cool things first. You're just Reeling in the Years.

Love Steely Dan, but I am sick of Michael McDonald and his Motown schtick. He can only get so much mileage out of that before he gets back to creating new music.
Did Steely Dan do "Peg"? Their best tune, IMHO...

The last time I got to go to a concert, your mom and dad were probably there. I think it was Zappa or the Dead. My memory of that time is kind of distorted.

Hmmm... Michael McDonald and Steely Dan? I'd expect a little better.

Brian!! It's SOOOOOOO weird that you say that! "Peg" is my all time favorite song!!!!! They did play it... but I didn't feel it was one of there best performances that night. They were great live though.

Okay... I hate to be "that guy" but you really laid money down on these folks?
Was it a PBS telethon?
Or maybe I just don't get it...
Then again I have never gotten Steely Dan... it's starch jazz...

Mark me down as "totally jealous" even though I'm only a tongue-in-cheek fan. I'm a particularly big fan of the Michael McDonald / Jeffrey Osbourne smash hit, "Ya-mo Be There."

They played in Boston too. The Globe reports their set included Bodhisattva and Aja, I really like Aja and The Royal Scam...

Let me science you up. "Steely Dan" is the name given to the steam powered dildo that appears in the novel "The Naked Lunch" by William Burroughs. The late William Burroughs, who in addition to be being a great writer was also a drug-addled junkie who shot his wife in the head whilst pretending to be William Tell, may have been an early adopter of the technology of "teledildonics."
Steely Dan is also the name of a once wildy popular jazz/rock band. They are actually pretty good, although I much prefer "The Naked Lunch." Anybody got any bug-spray?

Brrr. You seem a little young to be a fan of these musicians. Heck, I'm too young for that stuff and I am over 10 years older than you. But then I was raised on punk rock.

Hi Brooklyn Kitchen,
Yeah... we were probably the youngest people at the concert... but we didn't care. I don't care about age...
The Beatles are my all time favorite group and they broke up long before I was born. :)
I love Gwen Stefani, the Dixie Chicks, 50 cent and Cold Play too... so my musical taste is pretty random. I like what sounds good (to me)!

That looks like a great concert. And I hear you about the youth thing. I went to see Steely Dan a few years ago when I was 19.
I was the youngest one there.
I was with my parents.
It was awesome.
But no Michael McDonald was there for me. That makes me jealous.
Speaking of these folks, ever check out Channel101's Yacht Rock? Hilarious stuff.
