Fearless Foursome

I've been having such a blast here in San Jose. Here's a pic of Steve, me, Zadi and Melanie taken last night at the pool party.

If you have a sec, check out this article in The Wall Street Journal, "Moguls of New Media".

Just want to throw in with others who say start broadcasting something as quickly as possible. You are the star and you have the following.

As for the Journal article, I am not entirely sure how accurate that one is. Articles in Wired and Business Week seem to paint a different picture of podcasters and vloggers generating revenue and show that many see no need to try and break into "old media" but see the new as taking over completely!

Terrence!! Yes, yes, yes. You are absolutely right. I am sitting here listening to the terrific Heather Armstrong (dooce.com) at BlogHer... but I will dig in later. New media CAN be a be all end all. No one needs to crossover to old media WHATSOEVER if they don't want to. Blogging in all its various forms is becoming more and more sustainable every day.

    Amanda,

It was a pleasure meeting you at the tail end of the conference.

I can't wait to find out what you're going to do next.

If you ever consider writing a manuscript about your interesting experience, give me a holler.

You have so many options available now that you're UnBoomed!

    Cheers,

Like the last commenter: I wanted to post this in the other comment section, but you closed it before I had the chance.

For the average viewer what matters is in the end is the videos, so my feelings/views about the rocketboom breakup will remain my own. I have now watched both rocketboom and unboomed for some time now, but I can not continue seeing both. My personal conclution is I like my videos the Amanda style and I will continue to watch what you are doing where ever you go.

As a side note, I think the defining moment for me was when they threw out the computer in Rocketboom.

I will not watch anyone sitting eating toast. Well maybe the once, but for inane crap like that there is big brother. Amanda is entertaining not just because she is cute and has a nice smile. It's because she is funny, quirky and smart that is the real part of her success so far. If this is kept up I have no doubt she will go for.

    p.s. I love cheesecake.

You can't watch the videos on rocketboom and on unboomed or from Amanda wherever she may be? I don't understand, they are only a few minutes long. You don't have that 2 spare?

Amanda...I've been watching on a daily basis for a long time. And curiously enough, I do feel like I know you. Like someone I know from the coffee shop. And also, like watching a reality soap opera only"en viva".
I try to leave a short post everyday because I know it helps rate you higher in the search engines. I don't always put a lot of thought into my posts.
I believe vlogging is the media of the future because it is driven by personal exchange and not crass commercialism.
I think you are a breath of fresh air, thanks.

    Hi Amanda,

I remember reading a comment you'd made recently about not wanting your content on YouTube, I'm guessing because of their new license terms; aka they own it once they have it.

I thought you may be interested in Robert X. Cringely's take on the whole thing, it may even put your mind at ease (if it wasn't at ease).

Hope you had an enjoyable weekend, you look to have judging by the photo.

Yeah...I was the extremely tall girl that came up to you and acted like a TOTAL DORK the other night- uh or one of the extremely tall girls... I was very relaxed about it until I realized that oh my god you are so pretty it just crazy- and then I got all giggly and weird. Damn it.

Anyway what I wanted to say to you and don't know if I did, is that a lot of people support you and hope to see continued success for you in the near future.

    Keep rockin!

Man, I should have been one of the dudes that crashed BlogHer! Were they the cabana boys for the event or something?

Glad you had a fun time out there and I am very much looking forward to whatever project you engage in next.

To me and a lot of others you are the queen of "new media".

    Rock on!

    You're my favorite "mogul."

That's a great piece in WSJ and I look forward to the day when I might stumble into something that gets me positive attention like that.

Best of luck with what you do.
